“Summer in the City,” by the Lovin’ Spoonful. This song reminds me of the summers during my youth. Long days working and sweating in the heat. The smell of the hot asphalt mixed with food smells in the McDonald’s parking lot at lunchtime. Nights spent drinking beer and looking for girls, usually unsuccessfully.
The cool, damp breeze coming through my windows and wafting across my body at 2 a.m. as I lay on top of my bed, drifting off to sleep.

“Born to be Wild’ is my fav summer song, get out on the highway is what I like to do.
I guess I should check out AP and see what new styles they have.

I love that song and anything by Jimmy Buffet puts me in the summer an “island” mood. The Beach Boys are great too for summer songs and Alan Jackson’s Chattahooce River song is good. Thinging of you puts me in a great mood too!!

When I returned from Vietnam, a big hit then playing was “Take It Easy” by the Eagles. That song really resonated with me having survived quite a bit since ‘69. I felt so free and so ready to kick up my heals and enjoy a summer back home. “Take it Easy” still resonates with me after all these years….
