This seems to be the theme song of my life . I remember dancing in the clubs and, when I was on the shift, ”Fast Love” was my song and no one else used it. Strippers are funny that way you can wear their clothes, snort their coke, drink their booze, but don’t fuck with their favorite song…nor their favorite customer for that matter.
A trailer-trash stripper threaten me just as I climbed on stage to start my set after hers. Screaming in my face she told me she was going to kick my ass. I told her that she was as dumb as a box of rocks. Not really a good come back, I remember clearly, but that is what I thought and it came out. Now I wonder, what did I do to piss her off? I must have played “her” song.

Fast is all I was capable of doing, the song blasting from the speakers. An untraveled and unkept road gave opportunity to slalom around debris, my personal playground. I just reunited with my red sports car. Its 17″ OZs, Dunlop 8000s, cross-drilled brake rotors, ceramic composite brakes and after-market front and back anti-sway bars have been just installed. I was ready for a test drive. I slipped in the “Fast Love” CD and punched the gas. The Greddy exhaust growled and at 60mph, I was just warming up. The potholes gave this joyride the challenge I sought…but one that I could not conquer. As I maneuvered around my obsticle I rolled on to gravel and my tires skidded…
I was informed by the man in the yellow DMV truck that it looked as though the earth swallowed my car. Since two of the wheels were up in the air, it did look as if a big Venus Fly trapped was trying to eat my ride.
No damage to myself or the car incurred from the incident. Today, the road is a running trail that parallels Route 66. As I enjoy my daily run, I still occasionally fire up my stride to the tune of “Fast Love”.
