  2003 Chateau Souverain

  Alexander Valley

  Cabernet Sauvignon

Zesty, vibrant, concentrated blackberry, wild berry and huckleberry, with a dash of spicy, toasty oak.  About $20 a bottle.  I’m enjoying a glass right now.

2003 Simi

Alexander Valley

Cabernet Sauvignon

Appearance: Dark red with purple tones Aroma: Intense cassis and blackberry with hints of leather accompanied by notes of dried herbs and vanilla. Flavor: Lush berry flavors accented by full, ripe tannins that lead to a long rich and velvety finish.  One of my favorite Cabernets.  About $16 a bottle.

  1. They both sound excellent and good value also.

Since I don’t drink often, I prefer a somewhat sweet Italian such as Brachetto d’ Acqui best drunk young. Good alone or with fruit and chocolate.

Brachetto has wonderful aromas of black raspberry and black cherry with notes of tar, clove and flowers such as violets or orchids. The wine is medium-bodied, generally with a trace of sweetness and is usually lightly sparkling or what the Italians call frizzante.

Perhaps we shall share a bottle someday…

  2. Thanks for the wine tip. I’m going to try both!
