This Blog is my kiss of death…so enjoy it!!

I love this dress, thin baby pink and white pin-stripes, white round collar, little satin bow at the nape of my neck. I’m 12 years old and attending a wedding reception.

Low ceilings with walnut beams is what catches your eye when you enter the old  Inn.  It is a beautiful cool summer’s day in Amersham, England.

My dining partner to my left is a medium, one of my Aunt’s friends of whom I have never met.  This lady was not just hit with the ugly stick, she had her ass Rodney Kinged with the damn thing. My Aunt readily introduced me to the psychic and instantly she asked, “Let me read your palms”.

Very excitedly I rubbed the icing off my hands and proudly displayed them face up.  She touched each palm intensively to quickly announce.. “Keep a diary, you will lead an interesting life and you will write a book”.  She looks down again, frowns “And you will die young”.

*bummer*

Obviously, I don’t want her to be accurate, so lets check out the score….

  1. Great idea to have a blog. I’ll be sure to check in occasionally to see what’s on your mind.

This is a cute story. When I read the part “My dining partner to my left is a medium”, I briefly thought you were referring to her dress size. Stupid me. I have a suggestion…. don’t write the book. That way, it screws up the timeline and the dying part doesn’t happen.

  2. Thanks for a second, interesting and succinctly-written
“slice-of-life” story, this one from your early days in England. All of the very few individuals I’ve met who possessed a gift for looking into the future were, by nature, extremely humble, sensitive and empathetic people. So, I strongly doubt that the woman you mentioned truly had the gift of clairvoyance. If she had it, I don’t think she would have been so insensitive as to tell you (an energetic and full-of-life 12-year old), during a beautiful summer day, that you would “die young.”(shudder!)By the way, how did your aunt respond to hearing her so-called friend’s dire forecast?
